WHO:
Client is a healthcare/life sciences startup and Google spin-out. The company lives at the intersection of technology, data science and healthcare with a mission to develop tools to collect and organize health data, then creating interventions and platforms that put insights derived from that health data to use for more holistic care management.
WHAT:
The role of the Principal Full Stack Software Engineer/Architect was to participate as hands-on technical architect and software developer for the firm’s health data platform and associated graphical user interface.
OPPORTUNITY:
The challenge was to find an accomplished Software Engineer with a pedigree from a top university, domain expertise or appreciation for health/bioscience data, the ability to architect and develop cloud-based software from backend data pipeline to frontend/user interface coupled with exceptional coding and implementation skills. The role also required superior communication skills, the ability to work across projects, across the software stack and the ability to take leadership responsibility in making architectural decisions.

Cambridge, MA
OUTCOME:
Conducted initial candidate research across all relevant greater Boston area healthcare/life sciences/bioinformatics companies. Initially identified 79 candidates for multiple similar roles. From this initial outreach, 23 individuals were screened, 12 of whom were introduced, 9 of whom were phone screened by engineering director/stakeholder and 7 of whom were invited for onsite interviews. The chosen candidate came from a local Boston healthcare software company with 18 years of combined research and software development experience as well as a PhD in Cognitive Science from Brown University and a BS in Computer Science.
