Our client is a highly specialized private equity firm, dedicated to early-stage investments. They focus on companies with a distinctive product, platform, or business model, and the potential to revolutionize existing markets. Typically, they lead investments in Seed and Series A rounds, providing active support to the companies they invest in to facilitate growth and development.


Our parent company, BSG, completed a CFO search for the firm. The CFO reached out to us in need of an Assistant Controller for the firm. This individual would be responsible for creating and monitoring budgets, preparing financial statements, managing investments, and overseeing the organization’s accounting activities. They may also be responsible for developing financial strategies and making recommendations to the organization’s leadership team.


This person needed experience in private equity, monthly closing of the books, and ideally have a CPA or international tax background.


Remote, but should ideally be situated in the Northeast.


We used the research we had previously conducted for our CFO search to identify over 400 potential prospects. After assessing these prospects, we contacted the market and began screening those who were interested.

Based on our interview notes and suggestions, our client then met with four candidates who had the appropriate background and culture fit for the organization. This resulted in the CFO’s choice of a suitable Assistant Controller. We conducted an extensive referencing process and involved our client in one of the reference calls.
